History
The Mosin-Nagant M91/30 was a Soviet bolt action rifle. The M91/30 was an improvement on the earlier M1981 design, it was produced between 1930 and 1945 (the majority of production stopped in 1944, with only a few, mainly sniper rifles, produced in 1945.). It was a bolt action rifle chambered in 7.62x54R, it had an internal 5 round magazine loaded via 5 round stripper clips. The M91/30 was phased out by the M44 Mosin Nagant carbine in 1944, which was produced until 1948, until it was replaced with the SKS-45, which was itself replaced by the AK-47 in the early 1950s. Needless to say, it was long obsolete by the time of the Vietnam war, but the NLF was desperately short on weapons, especially earlier in the war and with part time guerrillas, of which only 1/4th to 1/5th even had a firearm of any kind.
